with its lush live string and horn section, can’t stop loving you when originally released in 1990 was an immediate favorite in the uk, and represented famed house producer marshall jefferson’s movement toward utilizing live instrumentation in his productions. the track was released right around the time the kiss fm london launched as a legal radio station, and richard was support talent at the radio station launch party in hyde park london that was headlined by fellow chicagoans ten city.

first up on remix duties is one of house music’s most intriguing artists. adesse versions has a back catalogue of highly sought-after records, and he’s treated this remix with utmost respect, keeping the track’s essence and identity, but adding a new layer of raw warmth and subliminal melody. next up, house legend dj spen has stepped up to the plate with his own interpretation. his jazzy, soulful keys have added a layer of polish and musicality to the track, which combine beautifully with paris brightledge’s iconic vocals.

repress 2018, finally, i was able to be re-united with my father, rick (poppa) howard, in the studio again. he had two thoughts about the selections on this particular vinyl piece: >can your love find its way< is the track that laid out, and also, that he believed us to be blessed both in being reunited, and in what we were there to do. as my father continually offers me a knowledge that takes me time (sometimes years) to understand, i am very proud to offer this release to the world.

the ppa duo outta london is back with another burning hot 7inch on gamm. just like on the first 7inch they go for two rare jazz-funk tracks where they not only rework the originals but also add their own instrumentation on top. song for you (by popcorn) got a real nice boogie funk feel and sounds like an early 80s production from the uk even though its actually a rare florida production. green machine is jazz-funk original by o donel levy but now re-tweaked and with vintage clavinet and percussion added over the original track. another ppa home run!
